Global warming is one of those terms that makes a subject seem smaller than it really is, "pacific basin" is another. The earth is still huge and it is difficult for us to describe it completely. Global warming has opened our eyes so those who are willing to look can see our total dependency upon a smoothly running spaceship earth.

Global warming, like a fever, is but one symptom of a larger ailment. The sloughing of eons worth of top soil could be compared to diarea. And specie extinction to loss of blood from internal bleeding. The underlying malady of all these symptoms may or may not be treatable. We may never fully know the answers, perhaps the sun is growing hotter and that is definitely beyond our ability to cope. Be that as it may, discussion of planetary health is extremely important, it indicates our specie is capable of growing beyond the limitations of individual ignorance and may learn directed application of total human consciousness. Hopefully we will evolve fast enough to survive.
